Ultrasound-triggered tumor therapy with doxorubicin-liposome-microbubble complexes in a subcutaneous murine colon adenocarcinoma model
نویسندگان
چکیده
Background/introduction Triggered release of drugs from carrier systems in vivo is widely investigated for targeted tumor therapy. During the past several years, an ultrasound-sensitive liposomemicrobubble pendant carrier has been developed: microbubbles, decorated with liposomes that carry e.g., doxorubicin, release the drug in response to ultrasound pulse. However, due to low drug load, those particles were not successful for tumor therapy in vivo. In this study, we are able to prepare particles with high doxorubicin load, and achieve successful inhibition of tumor growth in a subcutaneous murine tumor model.

Evaluation of the Combined Effects of Sonodynamic and Photodynamic Therapies in a Colon Carcinoma Tumor Model (CT26)
Introduction: Photodynamic therapy is a noninvasive therapeutic method for tumors with a maximum depth of 5 mm. On the other hand, most photosensitizers are also susceptible to ultrasound waves (the basis of sonodynamic therapy). Therefore, it is expected that a combination of the two therapeutic methods will increase effectiveness of photodynamic therapies for lower doses of sensitizer and cur...

Objective(s) Although photodynamic therapy is considered as a noninvasive method, most photosensitizers are susceptible to ultrasound. Therefore, it is expected that the combination of two activation methods might have a synergistic effect. This probable effect has been investigated in this study. Materials and Methods This study was conducted on colon carcinoma ...

OBJECTIVE To evaluate the effectiveness of ultrasound and microbubble-liposome complex (MLC)-mediated delivery of siRNA and doxorubicin into prostate cancer cells and its therapeutic capabilities both in vitro and in vivo. MATERIALS AND METHODS Microbubble-liposome complexes conjugated with anti-human epidermal growth factor receptor type 2 (Her2) antibodies were developed to target human pro...
متن کاملTreatment of Murine Tumor Models of Breast Adenocarcinoma by Continuous Dual-Frequency Ultrasound
Introduction: Acoustic transient cavitation is the primary mechanism of sonochemical reaction and has potential use for tumor treatment. In this study, the in vivo anti-tumor effect of simultaneous dual-frequency ultrasound at low-level intensity (ISATA < 6 W/cm2) was investigated in a spontaneous murine model of breast adenocarcinoma in Balb/c mice. Materials and Methods: Forty tumor bearing m...
متن کاملComparison the treatment effects between simultaneous dual frequency and single frequency irradiation of ultrasound in a murine model of breast adenocarcinoma
Introduction: Transient cavitations induced by low frequency irradiation of ultrasound can be used to treat tumors. Previous studies in in-vitro experiments have shown that induced cavitation by dual or multiple frequencies of ultrasound is greater than induced cavitation by single frequency irradiation. In this study, we compared and evaluated the treatment effects of dual frequency irradiatio...
